Cotton Candy At Union Station
East of West LA has recently posted its one thousandth photo.
To celebrate, I'm giving away a copy of my book, "East of West LA."
Just leave a comment here with the name of your favorite East of West LA photo. Or any comment at all. They'll be a random drawing this time next week.
***And I'd also like to say "Thank you" to everyone who visits East of West LA.***

I love "Chairs at the Beach" among many! Congratulations my friend, great job!
The colors are beautiful~
I already have a copy so you don't have to give me one. But I love that picture of the man sitting on a chair on the sidewalk at night in a spot of light...he's small in a big picture, of course I can't think of the name of it. It's from a couple of years ago, maybe.
I enjoy your photos, especially the night photography.
A special favorite is Skyline http://jimsonweed.blogspot.com/2010/07/skyline.html
I just had the best time looking at the past seven months of your recent photos. The variety of what and how you photograph amazes.
Choosing is very difficult. I know what I wouldn't choose, but that's because I'm squeamish. I won't even look at my own dental x-rays.
But, ok. 11/24, 11/14, 10/6, and then, when I first found your blog, there was a red rose on a crypt.
By far, the most intense of your photographs are those of the denizens of the City of Angels. Each one tells a story, much the way Charles Bukowski did with his poetry and prose. You convey an entire character and story in a single frame, Kevin. Always remarkable, always moving, always haunting. You and your work are a treasure to this city.
Much love and a deep appreciation for your good work. Thanks for showing the real faces of the city.
Have to admit, that it is difficult which photo is better than the other.
This surely a joy for the sense of sight and taste.
Please have a good new month and week ahead.
Impossible to pick my absolute favorite (as there are way too many) but a recent one that stands out among my faves is the 1/17/12 Liquor Store. I don't always comment, but I always love looking at your amazing photos. You really capture LA in such an interesting way.
I can't link to it, but it was a few years back of aging wallpaper in what appeared to be some kind of empty flop house
Congrats on reaching 1,000. Picking a favorite is incredibly difficult. Tonight, I'd pick Maria (Mexican Wedding - March 2007). Tomorrow? Who knows?
The photo of the former prisoner with "indian" tattooed on his neck, I don't recall the name. Not sure that favorite is quite the right word but it sure left an impression.
The faces in your photos, can't help but wonder about the stories behind them.
Also, Pocahontas brought tears to my eyes.
Winnie Lee
So nice of you to treat someone to your excellent book. One of these days I will catch up with you and get mine signed, OK?
