In the way of offering an unsolicited plug on behalf of someone I've never met, I'm reading and enjoying "A Listening Thing" by William Michaelian.
"After stopping off for an ultra-cheap battery made by a no-name company that will be out of business before the warranty expires, we headed for the freeway."
To my mind, the narrator, Stephen Monroe, is half Bartelby, half Occupy Wall Street.
(By the way, although I had no idea until googling it, the full title of Melville's short story is "Bartelby The Scrivener: A Story of Wall Street.")

I'm happy to say the Fall issue of Rangefinder Magazine has a review of "East of West LA."
