This is a softer shot Kevin. The grey tones go with Sergio's beautiful face. If this was reproduced as a high contrast shot it would make him a different person all together. You warm to Sergio deep on looking at him.
All Ways Eleven--I wouldn't have thought of that, but I think you're right on about the grays and the amount of contrast. The eyes are everything, and the photo's overall softness and warmth don't contradict the eyes. I'm not seeing defeat, necessarily; could be determination. Or resignation?
