The background is set on a dim mood, but even though the color "black" is portrayed in this shot, it doesn't seem to look like a hunted place in horror movies. The usage of light is superb.

This photo is terrifying. I mean that as a compliment.

to me this is a beautiful moment, quiet, a little mysterious on the cusp of a discovery.

I've probably said this before, but I can't wait to have a book with a collection of these "film noir" kind of haunted black and white photos from this blog. I still have that need to turn pages and feel the paper the reproductions are printed on a I do, etc. Not that I don't love seeing them here as well. But what an amazing book of photos that would be!

It ain't pretty. Which, as I keep noticing, is rarely what makes a photo great. What goes through most of your images is a story we hope never to be in.

The light leads the eye into some tight corners. No exit.

Haunted places are real. The unreality of what might be always needs some place to find refuge.
