Beautiful. I’ve long felt that trees make the best churches. Of course, vineyards are nice too.
I wonder what the story is.
These candles, especially when found close to sidewalks, are never a good sign.
Sweet and sad. As the hiker says, perhaps not a good sign. I don't remember this tradition from Illinois. The first time I saw it was on a trip to Mexico with my then boyfriend, who was Mexican. He explained the tradition to me as we drove along the most precarious mountain road I've ever experienced. There were countless roadside memorials.
I'm wiht Altadena...that is spooky!
These iconic candles are displayed on an end cap of my localsupermarket, next to 'ethnic' foods. But I do not fear; I'm always polite to my fellow shoppers and grocery clerks.
